Productive Month; CG Gallery; Demo Release Date; Depression & Thank You

I'm pleased to report that I have had a very productive  month. After a fairly productive December and a completely unproductive January, February and March's game development progress has been great.

CG Gallery; the value of reusable code

This was a pretty major milestone. It's surprisingly complex, but I took some extra time to ensure it's coded for reuse. Ultimately I think this will have a huge payoff. Making it possible to select the player character independently of the NPC character will make it much easier to browse, and also the flexibility will simplify implementing future characters.

Updated Demo is planned for release somewhere between March 27 - April 11

My plan is to release an updated demo with a complete first scene using all three new player character models.

Coding is pretty much done, renders are mostly done. I have not touched the sound, that may not get added.

I am targeting to do this before end of March. If I'm unable to get to the last 2 items, I will likely still release the demo, and work on those things later.

A Heartfelt Thank You

As I mentioned in my last Dev Log update, I am weighed down by depression. When I'm experiencing an acute episode of depression it's very difficult to work on this project. Depression can colour every aspect of one's life; causing one to lose sleep, energy, focus, motivation, joy--all of it. It even makes it harder to do the things that help treat it. I've been very fortunate and privileged in that I have a very strong support network.

A bunch of things contribute to it. Likewise, there's a bunch of things that help treat it. For instance, working on this game and getting to share it with all of you wonderful folks. And reading all the kind, supportive words from you--for the project and me personally--has been a great motivator!

I try to have a sense of humour about my depression, so I made this handy graphic. That's one sad mantis.

Exciting update, totally agree about reusable code--anything to make the not so fun parts more palatable in the future :P

And although I am not clinically depressed, I can definitely relate with not having energy for my passion projects when the everyday stresses of life just gets to you; I can't imagine how hard it is for you. Lots of your fans are cheering you on and are excited for what you in store so take your time and show us when you are comfortable and ready! :)

Thank you Fiorello! It really means a lot to me 🥰.

I feel like you've given me a burst of confidence and energy. I showed your message to my partner who said "That's so sweet of fiorello99, can I give them a kiss?" To which I said, "Of course!"  😘

Looks to be coming along very nicely, love all that you've done with it, and great way to implement multiple player characters. Hoping for the best in the game and your well being... Take all the time you need, and keep being your awesome self... cause you sure know how to  make some sexy men using Daz 3D <3
